I just feel like rambling today mainly because I’m not running and sometimes you gotta ramble.
Technology today is so fascinating. It seems like every day there is something new going on. When I was growing up (okay, well I’ve never officially grew up) there wasn’t much in the way of new technology. The personal computer was an old clunky boat anchor, but it did the job. Now you have laptops as thin as the Olsen twins. You buy one and 6 months later it’s obsolete and $200 cheaper. It’s taken me awhile to even get up to speed on blogging. Most of the time I forget about it. Now there are so many ways to connect with friends and relatives and I know I’m not even aware of half the ways. That being said, what the heck is a Twitter anyway? I had a few friends in high school that I called twits, but I’m guessing this is something else. And of course you’re a nobody unless you have a Facebook or MySpace page. And now that I’ve mastered the the DVD player for my TV, they come out with TV DVR (or something), and Blue Ray. As my VCR still flashes 12:00, I wonder why I would even bother with that stuff. You could spend most of your life on your computer or in front of your TV.
I really admire some people that I’ve come across on this blogging adventure. How they can come up with the things that they come up with is beyond me. Usually my posts are 1 or 2 paragraphs, but some of these bloggers write an essay, and one of the best ones that I’ve come across is Corey and her blog See Corey Run. Awhile ago she was battling a bad flu bug and it was a struggle for her to get back into running. Now she is running, doing a half million push ups, has a new job….and it goes on. Check her out because she is one inspiring person.
Another great site to go to is from Kristen at Run Faster . She always has great tips and information about running, and I look forward to checking out her site to see what’s new.
I missed the Georgetown to Idaho Springs half marathon yesterday. I was really looking forward to running that until I got injured. Oh well. If I can get back on track with my knee, I’m hoping to do the Boulder Backroads Half Marathon. I would only do it as a training run though because it’s about 6 weeks away and I will be nowhere near in good shape to run this as a race.
One last thing before I go off conquering new adventures. Football has officially started and with it my hopes and dreams that I will live to see the day that The Detroit Lions make it to the Super Bowl.
I was diagnosed with MS about 4 years ago and I am one of the lucky ones. I don't have too many problems associated with it, and the disease has actually slowed down. I took up running 3 years ago just to see if I could do it. So far I've run 3 marathons in a year and a half.

So how’s the knee feeling today? What’s your recovery “plan of attack”?! Are you going to get surgery & then do PT?
Blush, blush. Aw, you are too kind! Hmmm, I guess I DO write essays. Eek!
I agree with what you said about Kristen’s blog — Plus, she’s a really nice person too!
Great commentary about technology. You are still probably MUCH better at keeping up with it than a lot of people I know!
It took forever for my mother to get on the technology bandwagon, but look at her now — She’s using Facebook! My sister & I are working on her, slowly but surely.
Yes, technology is always changing. Once you get used to something, don’t blink, or it’ll change again.
And if you work in IT like I used to do (for about 15 years!), it can be an even bigger pain in the neck to constantly have to keep up with it all, because we have to know the technology well enough to not only use it, but fix it! After all, WE are the ones to have to know how to fix the stuff the rest of the world breaks. Hahahaha. And that includes fixing our parents VCRs blinking 12:00 & their malfunctioning printers when we come home for visits.
LOL, regarding the twit comment. That reminds me of the Roald Dahl Book, The Twits, a hilarious read from childhood.
Ever heard of it or read it to your sons when they were small?! If their sense of humor is anything like your’s, I bet they would’ve LOVED it!
To answer your question about Twitter: It’s a popular social networking tool, in which you can convey information/thoughts via short little messages called “tweets.” It’s kind of like the “status” feature in Facebook, or like IM (instant messaging) but doesn’t require real-time interaction. You can make your tweets public or private, & people can “follow” them & you can follow theirs. A web browser is just one of the places where you can view the Twitter website; it’s also viewable from Facebook (with an add-on app), mobile phones & PDA devices, Blackberries, etc. If you’re curious to know more about Twitter, I wrote a post or two about it, which contain some good links explaining what it’s all about.
I primarily use it to broadcast tips & information to my friends, share links, ask people questions, & give people a heads up when I’ve updated my blog with a new post. You can also direct message people in Twitter, which is private, or just use the convention of “@username” to communicate with them (which is public). Anything with “@username” will appear in their Twitter stream. There are also hashtags you can use, (which contain a # symbol), which help you search for various topics & also make your twitters searchable as well. (See the related Blog Catalog running forum discussion thread on Twitter for more details on how exactly to use these features. There’s also a FAQ on the Twitter website, which might help you as well.)
Hope this helps!
Whoops, looks like I wrote another essay again.

Thanks for the plug, Dave. And I’m sorry you weren’t able to do Georgetown but hope you are back on track in time for Boulder Backroads. I did it a couple of years ago and thought it was fun, well run race.

Hiya! Ran across your blog because I’m a runner just diagnosed w/MS. Wondered how many of us are out there. I’m bookmarking it and hope to keep up with how you’re doing. Was sorry to hear about your knee…
