Man I know what you mean about getting into a training funk, seems like it happens to us all. I think the best way to get out of one is to run in a shorter race, say a 5k or 10k. A pre-race race might just be the ticket.

Hi Dave,

Nice to see you posting again. I always enjoy reading your blog! Your comment about the beer cracked me up! Non-alcoholic beer just doesn't taste the same, I don't care what anyone says. ;-) Those people obviously aren't REAL beer drinkers! Hahahahaha.

I have to agree with you regarding your solution to your recent training funk. Also, sometimes I find a bit of hiking or other sorts of cross-training to be a big mental boost. Or even a brief respite from running altogether might do the trick. Maybe those suggestions would work for you as well?! You know what they say about variety being the spice of life, etc., etc. ;-) Sometimes training can just be.... dull, monotonous, & aimless, especially without different activities & smaller goals along the way to motivate!

Or maybe you just need to find races that serve good beer at the finish line. ;-)
