Runners “High” (or, “Moe, Larry, cheese”!)

I saw this one day and thought it was very interesting.  It seems that Opioids, the body’s chemical that creates the runners high, also can save the heart from damage during a heart attack.  Check out the story here

One thing that I don’t get is, do they have little miniature treadmills for the rats, or do they run on regular treadmills?  And do the rats get paid for this study?  Do the rats know what they are getting into when they volunteer?  Why don’t they use real people?  Take all the prisoners on death row, and make them do the study.  At least then the study would be comparing apples to apples.  None of this “study conducted with lab rats” crap.  Use real people.  We could easily get rid of the homeless population this way too.  And while we are at it, gather up all the illegal aliens that are criminals (some of them are good people) and make them do it.  If they don’t want to, it’s back where you came from amigo.

About Dave

I was diagnosed with MS about 8 years ago and I am one of the lucky ones. I don't have too many problems associated with it, and the disease has actually slowed down. I took up running 6 years ago just to see if I could do it. So far I've run 7 marathons in 5 years and 18 half marathons.

  1. JG says:

Um, so what you’re saying is, you want homeless people to run on treadmills then remove their hearts for the benefit of science? Or you want illegal immigrants to choose between 1) running then removal of heart, or 2) deportation. Just wanted to clarify.
