I was over served. It’s not my fault. Why would someone keep giving me beer when I need to stop because I’m running in the morning? Went to The Irish Snug last night and had a great time. But, I was over served. This morning I ran a 5K in Boulder, The Panicking Poultry and although I didn’t run too bad, I was disappointed. I was shooting for under 24 minutes, but I ended up at 24:30. I started out great, but I think it was too fast. My first mile was 7:30 and it was uphill! I had planned to do 8:00 the first mile knowing that the hill would slow me down a bit, and then gradually speed up as the race went along. But I think that I blew my wad that first mile, and it was all I could do to finish in a respectable time. Oh well. The race benefited a good cause, MS, and it was a beautiful day in Boulder.
I was diagnosed with MS about 4 years ago and I am one of the lucky ones. I don't have too many problems associated with it, and the disease has actually slowed down. I took up running 3 years ago just to see if I could do it. So far I've run 3 marathons in a year and a half.

Beer & running certainly make an interesting mix! Maybe next time Coors Lite should sponsor the race & it’ll be required for everyone to take beer breaks to refuel. Then atleast that way it would be equally challenging for everyone else to make good times!
I bet that’d make you feel a whole lot better!
But seriously, it sounds like you stll had a pretty good race. You were only a little bit over your goal time. And considering the amount of beer you were served last night, I’d say you did pretty well. Atleast you weren’t running with a hangover!
I’d love to see photos of where you ran, especially since it was such a beautiful day in Boulder! Did you take any photos before or after your race?!
I have to say, the Panicking Poultry is a very comical name for a race. There must be a hilarious story behind how it got its name. Silly name, good cause!
Good for you for putting in your best effort, regardless of the previous evening’s circumstances!

It was even better because Avery Brewing Co was a sponsor. They are a micro brew company in Boulder, and of course after the race I had to have a few. I didn’t get to take any pictures though. I always seem to forget my camera!

You suck. You need to get a helmet-cam to record all the action.

The helmet-cam would have slowed me down more.
